To provide the core functionality of Paced (helping you limit screen time and use movement to unlock apps), we collect and process the following types of data:

  • Personal Information: When you create an account, we may collect your Name and Email Address (via Google Sign-In).

  • App Usage Data: We track how much time you spend in other specific applications on your device. This is necessary to enforce the time limits you set.

  • Physical Activity Data: We access your device's step counter/pedometer. This data is used strictly to calculate when you have earned enough "steps" to unlock your apps.

  • Device Information: We may collect information about your device model and operating system version to ensure the app works correctly.

3. Permissions We Request

For Paced to work, we require specific Android permissions. We only request permissions that are essential for the app's functionality:

  • Usage Access: Required to monitor how long you use specific apps so we can block them when your time is up.

  • Display Over Other Apps (Overlay): Required to show the "Lock Screen" over a distracted app when your session ends.

  • Physical Activity: Required to count your steps to unlock more screen time.

  • Notification Access: Required to alert you when your session is ending or when your cooldown is over.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Core Functionality: To block apps, track timers, and count steps.

  • Account Management: To manage your subscription (Pro status) and save your preferences.

  • Improvement: To analyze crash reports and fix bugs.

We do NOT sell your personal data, step count, or app usage history to third parties.

5. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to help operate the app. These parties may have access to your data only to perform these tasks on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase: Used for secure authentication (logging in) and storing your user settings.

  • Google Play Services: Used for handling "Pro" subscriptions and payments.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account information only for as long as you have an active account.

  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. You can do this within the app settings or by contacting us at [support@pacedapp.com].

7. Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information and we use commercially acceptable means to protect it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Paced is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
