From Real Estate to App Founder: How Selling Houses Prepared Me to Build Paced

On the surface, the worlds of real estate and technology can seem miles apart. One is about open houses and closing deals; the other is about code and user interfaces. For years, most people have known me as a Top Producer in real estate here in Saskatoon—a career built on tangible results and human connection.

But recently, I became a tech founder.

It might sound like a leap, but my journey to creating Paced wasn’t a random one. I’ve come to realize that the very skills that allowed me to succeed in a competitive real estate market are the exact skills required to build a technology company from the ground up.

Execution Over Everything

Being a Top Producer in real estate isn't just about sales; it's about execution. It’s about managing dozens of moving parts—marketing, client communication, negotiations, and complex paperwork—and ensuring they all come together flawlessly. It requires resilience, a relentless drive to get things done, and the ability to stay focused on the end goal.

That same ‘get it done’ drive is the engine behind Paced.

A Mind for a System

Before my career in real estate, I worked as an SAP Business Analyst. That role was all about logic, structure, and creating detailed specifications to manage complex technical projects. It trained me to think in systems, to see how small details connect to the bigger picture, and to communicate clearly with technical teams.

This structured, logical mindset is what allows me to translate the vision for Paced—a supportive coach that helps you find balance—into the detailed technical specifications our development partners are using to build the app today.

A Mission to Create Balance

Ultimately, both of my careers have been driven by a desire to help people achieve their goals—whether it’s finding the perfect home or finding a healthier balance with technology. Paced is the culmination of all my experiences: the sales and marketing acumen from real estate, the structured thinking from my analyst days, and my personal passion for tackling the problem of digital distraction.

This journey is about building a world-class wellness app that gives users back their time, their presence, and their peace of mind.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. ~ Rhonda
